To register to vote in Michigan you must:

• Be a United States citizen.
• Be at lease 18 years of age by election day.
• Be a resident of Michigan and the city/township where you are applying to register to vote.
• You must register to vote at least 30 days prior to an election to qualify to vote in that election.

If you are a Lapeer Township resident you may register to vote at the Clerk's office during regular office hours.

Additional Clerk's Office hours: The clerk's office will be open for voting on the Saturday prior to election day from 11AM until 2PM.
You may also vote early according to election law on the Monday before election day from 9AM until 4PM.

IMPORTANT ELECTION DATES TO REMEMBER

For people who wish to vote for the first time - this can be done at our office during regular office hours, at the Secretary of State during regular office hours or at the County Clerk's office during regular office hours.

Last day to register to vote for the August 5, 2008 election is July 7, 2008
Last day to register to vote for the November 4, 2008 election is October 6, 2008

The Clerk's office will be open on the following additional days for electors wishing to receive an absent voter ballot

Saturday August 2, 2008 - 11am until 2pm
Monday August 4, 2008 - until 4pm
Saturday November 1, 2008 - 11am until 2pm
Monday November 3, 2008 - until 4pm
